Gavin Bender, Sr.
Gavin Bender Sr. holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of South Alabama and attended USA’s Graduate School of Business. Gavin is a member of the Mobile Board of Realtors, the Mobile Commercial Real Estate Exchange Club, the Society of Industrial and Office Realtors-Office Specialist (SIOR), and currently serves on the USA Mitchell College of Business Advisory Board. He is past president of the Catholic Social Services Board and a past board member for Mobile Area Girl Scouts. He has served on the boards of St. Ignatius School, McGill Toolen Catholic High School and Foundation, Providence Hospital Foundation, YMCA-Chandler Branch, and the City of Mobile Planning Commission. Bender Real Estate Group manages, leases, develops and brokers all types of commercial real estate properties, specializing in office properties. Bender Real Estate Group is a Partners for Growth Investor through the Mobile Area Chamber of Commerce.
Gavin Bender, Jr.
Gavin Bender, Jr. is a native Mobilian, and began working in the Commercial Real Estate Business in 2003. Gavin received a B.S. in Finance with a Concentration in Real Estate from the University of Alabama. He is a member of the Mobile Association of Realtors, National Association of Realtors, Mobile Commercial Exchange Club, the Society of Industrial and Office Realtors-Office Specialist (SIOR) and the Mobile Area Chamber of Commerce. Gavin focuses on Property Management, Commercial leasing, sales, and development. Gavin is an active volunteer in several Mobile County Sports Programs, and is a member of the Senior Bowl Committee.
Chief Financial Officer
Geri Lee joined Bender Real Estate Group as the CFO in 2011. She received her Bachelor of Science in Commerce and Business Administration majoring in accounting from the University of Alabama and attended University of South Alabama’s Graduate School of Business. Geri started her career with Arthur Anderson & Co. in Birmingham on their audit team. Upon returning to Mobile, she worked at Providence Hospital as Director of Accounting and then as Director of Financial Services. While at Providence, she was a permanent member of the Hospital’s Policy and Procedures Committee and the Chairman of the Department Director’s Committee. Geri then worked as Controller for MCG Business Solutions before joining Bender Real Estate Group. She has volunteered with the Girl Scouts of America, Goodwill Easter Seals, and the Junior Achievement. Her responsibilities with Bender Real Estate include the day-to-day responsibility for planning, managing and controlling all financial-related activities and direct responsibility for accounting, finance, forecasting, and budgeting.
Leasing and Sales Agent
Janet Keene began her career in Real Estate in 2005, joining Bender Real Estate Group in 2007 as a Leasing and Sales Agent, and Executive Associate to Gavin Bender Sr. As a native Californian, Janet lived in 9 different states and traveled extensively throughout the world before settling in Mobile, AL in 2001. With a degree in Business Management, specializing in Travel and Tourism, Janet worked for Continental Airlines for 5 years and as a Travel Agent for 12 years before shifting her career focus to real estate. She has volunteered with the Girl Scouts of America as a Troop Leader, has worked with Habitat for Humanity, is a member of the Mobile Association of Realtors, National Association of Realtors, and the Mobile Area Chamber of Commerce. Her responsibilities with Bender Real Estate include, leasing, marketing, company, and tenant relations.
Jeremy McDonald has worked for Bender Real Estate Group since 2009. He is from Mobile and attended St. Dominic’s and McGill-Toolen High School. He then received a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Alabama in 2004 with a primary emphasis in English along with a minor in general business. Assisting in residential real estate and completing an appraisal qualification course preceded his joining of the Bender Real Estate Group. His current role includes building supervision, maintenance, and tenant relations.
Building Maintenance Manager
Rick Hesley has been with Bender Real Estate Group since 2005 serving as Building Maintenance Manager of the Riverview Office Plaza. Rick graduated from John Leflore High School in 1986, and joined the United States Navy in February of 1987. While in the Navy, Rick served his country for 9 years as a Flight Deck Director/Coordinator. Rick currently serves as the Pastor of a local community ministry where he earned an AS Degree in Sacred Literature. For the past 10 years, Rick has been a member of the Project Hope program ministering in the local jails. Rick is a husband, father, and a proud, faithful member of the staff at the Bender Real Estate Group.
Consulting Engineer for HVAC and Mechanical Systems
Paul Borrego has been with Bender Real Estate Group since 2007 as a Consulting Engineer for HVAC and Mechanical Systems. Paul is a native of Miami, Florida and attended Miami Senior High and the University of Miami. He is a member of Miami Sr. High Hall of Fame in Football. Paul graduated from Florida Industrial Commission Department of Apprenticeship with a Five year degree. Paul became active in community sports and served as President of Greater Miami Pop Warner Football League. After years in commercial, industrial, and nuclear mechanical projects, he joined York International Corporation in 1979. Paul led his District winning The Silver Eagle award for customer retention, profit, and exceeding quotes twelve times. He retired from York after 26 years as an Area Service Manager. Paul specializes in Building Energy Conservation, customer comfort and reliability. Paul is a Member of the United Association of Plumbing and Pipefitting Industry of the United States and Canada.
Glenn Leight serves as the Maintenance & Service Director for the Bender Real Estate Group and has responsibility for 8 commercial properties in Mobile. Glenn is originally from Michigan, but has been in Mobile since 1981 with over 30 years of experience in commercial real estate property management. Before joining BREG, Glenn previously worked for Rime Investments as a maintenance service manager for a professional office complex. Glenn has worked with Gavin Bender Sr. since 2003, and continues to enhance the efficiency of the maintenance process by implementing an online work order system and various preventative checks to ensure tenant satisfaction. Glenn’s commitment to service allows BREG to set the standard and lead the way in property management.
